K-Gr 1-These books follow a girl who suspects that monsters are everywhere. She hears them in her school, tracks them through the park, examines the messy wake that they leave in her home, and even finds them on the bus. Fortunately, her imagination is more vivid than life, as each time she finds not a horrid monster, but her little brother who is often up to no good. With a tenuous rhyming scheme and an unnecessary glossary at the end of each volume, these books have little child appeal. The illustrations are flat and look computer generated, and the stories, while they may hold up in one volume, wear thin after four similar episodes.-Jasmine L. All four books follow a nearly identical story line: the unnamed female narrator comes upon a chaotic scene, she searches for the monster who's to blame, and she ultimately discovers that her little brother is involved. The illustrations are expressive, but their strange proportions can be distracting; the rhyming text is inconsistent, and often forced, creating a jarring reading experience. Glos.
